blogkomm.com: comments for blogger-type weblogs

blogkomm :
comments for (blogger-type) weblogs

blogkomm is a commenting script for weblogs that allows comments to appear within your blog, below the posts.

No database is needed: CSS-styled comments, multilingual User Interface, browser-based setup and configuration plus admin-tool are stored on your own webserver.

Test it out in my (german) blog below, comments in any language are appreciated.

blogkomm 1.8 released

I had to react. Check out the new version running here. I released a new version because the code and functionality has changed and improved. blogkomm works now with the new Post Pages feature in blogger. That means that the comments appear now on a separate page including the referenced post. Really the way I always wanted it, while blogkomm is still really easy to install.

gravatarI will probably give 1.8 a shot because 1.6 (?) wasn't working correctly for me, and I'm not thrilled with Blogger making everyone anonymous. I kept my old code, just in case...

gravataryeah you used 1.6 i guess, which is still running on many blogs ... as long as you don't enable the new Post Pages feature it will be okay

gravatarHolger,

I've customized my past installation. Is there any way you can teel me what changes you made to make blogkomm work with Blogger Post Pages?
Steve Hall, 11.05.2004, 11:13pm #
gravataryep, take a look into the 1.8 code ... the included files have to be included with $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]
Holger, 11.05.2004, 11:16pm #
gravatarI sent you a private email, but I am having a heck of a time getting it running correctly. And I didn't want to go back to 1.6, so it's not an option, really. that $_SERVER["DOCUMENT_ROOT"] stuff was totally not working for me.

gravatarJody...I just did a clean re-install of 1.8 and things are working fine now. I tweaked the code and the css a bit to change the look but a clean install did the trick. Holger, it works great with Blogger Post Pages now!

gravatarIs it possible to delete individual comments as an administrator or something??
Chris, 12.05.2004, 6:31pm #
gravataryep, there is an admin tool available for download. you can delete _and_ edit comments ...

I had to completely remove 1.8. The Document Root thing is breaking BlogKomm for me.

My blogger template actually uses PHP includes so I have a nice clean template. Somehow, blogkomm is trying to load pages from server root (/) instead of document root (/home/sites/blah/web/).

1.8 doesn’t work at all for me in this configuration. And post pages was what I wanted to avoid for path reasons. Unless I’m just missing something.

gravatarWhenever someone posts a comment on my site it just takes them back to the archive directory, i.e. 2004/05 and I set the blog post page in the show link thing too. any help?

gravatarJustin, same thing is happening with me. I'm with Tolwyn, I am only running it on a test blog right now simply because it isn't working.
Jody, 13.05.2004, 2:26am #
gravatar@Justin ... set your blog_home_URL var to "/index.php" not only "index.php". But this is HTML not blogkomm-code or PHP.
okay guys, at least it is working here. so it could be your server configuration that differs from mine. But that wont help. :-/

gravatarTwo recent "problems" I've experienced:

1. When I do a test post, click post, I am returned to the Post Page but my comment does nit show....until I reload or hide comments and then show them.

2. When I do a comment and click preview, the preview shows but there seems to be no way to post the comment after previewing it. Am I missing something? Or is it designed that way?

Other than that, 1.8 is working great!
Steve Hall, 13.05.2004, 6:12am #
gravatar1.8 isn't working for me, though I really want to fix it. I don't like the popup-based comments and blogger's is just too restrictive.

I've already moved my blog out of blogspot and into my own space, but I always get the "Warning: get include path/to/blogkomm/modules/blogkomm_show-link.php" error. My page is already index.php. Can anyone help?

gravataryep, you put blogkomm in the wrong directory, your blog is in "3wgd", blogkomm is in "html" ... reads the manual for details. thanks
Holger, 14.06.2004, 2:44pm #
gravatarNo Holger, my blogkomm ub sub th3 "3wgd" directory and not in the html root. I'm using PHP v4.06. Any more suggestions?

By the way, I had to do "$_SERVER=$_DOCUMENT_SERVER_ROOT" for backwards compatibility.
